Kokanee Lake
British Columbia

Location: This hike-in lake may be accessed via the Kaslo and Joker Mill-Keen Creek roads or by the Kokanee Creek Road southwest of Balfour on Highway 3A. The lake is located in the Kokanee Glacier Park and is at an elevation of 1981 m (6498 ft). The Slocan Chief Cabin provides shelter and cooking facilities.

Fishing Report: Yellowstone cutthroat trout are resident in this deep, cold alpine lake. Flycasting and spinfishing are the most popular methods used. Ant, beetle and fly patterns are used with great success as well as black spinners and wedding rings with maggots. Mid-July to mid-October are the best times of the year to visit Kokanee Lake.

Nearby Lakes

Gibson, Heather, Upper Joker, Helen Dean, Kaslo, Keen, Garland, Tanal and Sunset Lakes are all located in the park and provide good fishing to anyone willing to hike-in.

Note: Always check your current BC Fishing regulations before you start fishing a new lake.

Be sure to visit Fishbc.com for angling information!
