Maple Ridge, British Columbia

In the shadows of the majestic Golden Ears Provincial Park and alongside British Columbia's mighty Fraser River, the community of Maple Ridge plays host to a variety of recreational opportunities. The nature lover can ride or stroll the network of equestrian trails or take a brisk walk on part of the dyke system.

Nearby Golden Ears Provincial Park can provide camping, hiking, biking, fishing and more. Learn more about the forest in the University of BC Research Forest (Malcom Knapp), or visit the fish hatchery and cliff falls at Kanaka Creek Regional Park.

The BC history buff can wander through time on Maple Ridge's Heritage River Walk. The community's history is well documented at the Maple Ridge Museum and Haney House. The "Beast" is another attraction not to miss. This clock tower is capped by a mechanical horse which dances hourly to remind visitors and residents to act with environmental responsibility.

A place close to nature but near to a large metropolitan area, Maple Ridge, British Columbia, can offer the best of two worlds.
